love is in the air and my sweater

Happy love day to everyone!  So sorry I've been neglecting the blog, lives been crazy.  This post is going to be a brief tutorial about this great felted heart! I found this on pinterest and needed to try it myself.  If you'd like to check on the original tutorial check out this great blog, honestlywtf
Our V Day dinner, because OLIVE you!

DIY HEART ELBOW PATCHES
  • wool sweater
  • wool roving
  • heart cookie cutter
  • felting needles
  • foam for felting
  • iron
  • water

Use a wool sweater and eyeball about 1/2 inch under the elbow.  Place a piece of tape here. Place the cut foam into the sweater.

Place the cookie cuter above the mark and get ready to fill with roving.

Fill cutter evenly with roving.  Here's the fun part, start stabbing the roving into the foam with the needle.  Make sure you stab the need straight into the roving and foam (they are easy to break). Fair warning- this does take a while, you want it to flatten out and focus on the edges. The spritz with water and iron with wool setting. Enjoy lovers! XO

feeling very lucky

I can't believe it happened!  We did it, we bought a 2002 9-3 Saab. This has been my dream car for the last 10+ years. I fell in love with the shape and that crazy hatchback! Mike and I went to the owners house in Mukwonago on Friday and took it home that night.  Sure it's a little old, but this is the newest hatchback like this we could get.  She's a beauty inside and purrs like a kitten.  Call if you need a taxi! I have been taking the longer way home wherever I go.  Happy and safe driving! XO

tgit

Yes that's what I said, tgit- thank gosh it's Thursday.  Mike and I both took off tomorrow for a dentist appointment.  The dreaded dentist appointment.  I haven't been there since they "said" I needed my wisdom teeth out. I always feel like I'm going to get yelled at by the dentist...I've been flossing my butt off for the last month. I'll keep you posted on our outcome.  Other than the big dentist appointment Mike and I are looking at getting a new car for me which is super duperexciting.  I can't imagine driving a car with air conditioning, no dents, rust or cracked windshield. My fingers and toes are crossed and there will be lots of pics to follow if we buy it.  Have a fabulous weekend, enjoy every second. Xoxo

monday monday so good to me

Monday has once again come and gone.  It's great to start a new week, but always tough too.  I started the week in a kindergarten class that I will be with all week and I am really looking forward to it.  I came home completely exhausted today and give props to any K teachers and they're fabulous patience.  At one point of the day I had two students balling, 6 saying "Mrs. D, Mrs. D, I need help with my boots, can you zip me, i can't find my other glove", and three boys having a competition to see who could throw their boots
farthest down the hall. I kept reminding myself to just to breath.

A perk of the day was that I got to break in my new kicks.  On our adventure this weekend I found these great flats at j crew.  They are called Oxford Ballet Flats and are totally comfortable besides reminding me that I have two ingrown toenails...crappy. Looking forward to another exciting day in my new shoes with a bunch of energetic 5 year olds!

loving the details, they remind me of Mike's wedding shoes

jumping for joy (on our brand new bed)

We are finally growing up! On a whim, Mike and I just bought an amazing bedroom set! I'm sure you can tell, based on all the exclamation points that I am super excited! We were originally going to look at some living room furniture but instead left buying a bed, mattress, night stand, and two amazing dressers.  We fell in love with it as soon as we saw it.  It's just what we like...dirty, old looking, hammered, worn in, eclectic looking. We were told it would be delivered the first week in February, happy birthday to me! This means new sheets- which I LOVE- thanks to my mom.  Any ideas where to look?  I've looked at crate and barrel- nothing, target- maybe, urban outfitters- no sheets, anthropologie- outrageously $ pricey...where else?  Oh and we're open for sleepovers starting in February! Any takers? xo

I can't wait to sleep in you.

 oh la la

my clothes can't wait to meet you!

 hmmm...what should we get?

zzzzzzz's, I can here you now

and the adventure continues

Indeed, the adventure continued into Sunday morning.  Mike has a thing for Sunday breakfast at family restaurants.  Luckily we live close to the Dairyland Family Restaurant.  We've never been there before but Mike insisted we started our day there.  I was not about to complain, I love a good breakfast!

We were welcomed by a scratchy voice greeting us with "Hi'ya kids."  I was loving it, we were for sure 50 years younger then everyone in the joint!  Mike didn't love the food, but I was digging their endless cup of joe for $1.30.

I was pretty pumped to say the least.
 20 page menu.

Creamer and a little coffee, yummy. their endless cup of joe!

I am so in love with this man!

trinity hat

It's finished!  This is the hat that has been ripped out over and over and here it is.  I'm pretty happy with it, I think I could've made it a bit smaller and need some more practice with the trinity stitch but overall like it.  I made it to match my snood.

I started with...56 stitches I think?  And k3, p3 for a few inches for the rim.  Then I started the trinity stitch and am in love with the texture it creates!  It totally reminds me of the "noogies" on my blanket when I was little.

I think I'm liking my slouchy hat with the seed stitch the best.  With any left over yarn I think I may make another one in navy or cream to match my favorite snood.

amazing adventure

This morning Mike woke me up with "I'm taking you on an adventure today!"  I was in.  Not sure for what but I was in.  Mike likes to take me places without telling me where we're going because he likes how concerned and curious I get. (I feel differently...)  We ended up heading to the Dells, or like dad likes to say "da dells."  The car ride was filled with great tunes like "She Wolf" and knitting.

Our first stop was The Pine Cone- yes that would be the swinging truck stop.  Mike took me there for the first time this year and I immediately fell head over heels for their Chicken Dumpling soup and gigantic, mouth watering rolls. That is exactly what we both ordered and it was a warm and tasty way to start our adventure.

"Start Smiling" don't mind if I do!

We made it to the Dells and were off to the Outlet Mall.  They opened a new J. Crew their in November and we were hoping to find some great deals!  Indeed we did!  Mike ordered a jacket that he's had his eye on for months and got an extra 50% off the clearance price, what a lucky day.

Our final stop would be one of my favorite places...the casino. (if you know me- you know i am TOTALLY kidding) We walked into the grandma filled, smokey, blinking lights building and were off.

 yes...

 he freakin loves it!
Maybe this is why I don't like it, I am crazy unlucky!  The one game I played I ripped the ticket and got half of it eaten in the machine...

Have fun on your adventures! XO
